Pair of Large 1970’s Caithness Glass & Stirling Silver Cufflinks in Original Box

£75

Ref/21633

These are a set of Caithness Glass cufflinks, made in halmarked silver and set with Paul Ysart millefiori canes or "stones". They were made in 1971.

Each measures 15/16 by 3/4 inches. The stone is 1/2 inch diameter. Weight (in box) 78g. Each has a small Paul Ysart millefiori 'stone' set on a pair of bark-effect bars. The canes are highly complex - each element has itself complex elements. Hallmarked Birmingham 1971 (W) and with "C.G." (Caithness Glass) makers mark. They are in fair condition. The silver is tarnished, but the canes are bright but with light scratching.

Caithness Jeweller was originally a collaboration between Colin Terris (who made the silver) and Paul Ysart (who made the canes). Ysart left Caithness Glass in 1972 after which Peter Holmes took over making the canes. So, the hallmark confirms the glasswork is indeed by Paul Ysart.
